How your bankruptcy is handled, even the Chapter of bankruptcy you choose to some extent, is dictated by your debts. Everyone's debts are different, so everyone's case is slightly different. That is one of the reasons why personal attention from an experienced Arizona bankruptcy attorney is so important.
At the Arizona Law Group of Trezza & Associates, we provide the personal attention necessary to come up with a strategy to overcome your debt. Contact us for a consultation with lawyer Stephen Trezza.
Three Categories of Debt
Debt falls into three categories:
- Priority debt: This is debt that has to be paid, bankruptcy or no bankruptcy. It includes delinquent child support payments, tax debt that is fewer than three years old, and a few other debts.
- Unsecured debt: This is debt that is not attached to a specific piece of property. Unsecured debt includes credit card debt, medical bills and more.
- Secured debt: This is debt attached to some form of collateral that the creditor can reclaim if the debt is not paid. Secured debt includes mortgage debt, car loans and more. This debt must be paid in order to retain the collateral.
